Jamileh Cannon
Founding Partner and Principal Architect
As a licensed California Architect and seasoned construction manager, Jamileh directed over $150 million dollars worth of multi-family construction projects prior to founding Workbench.
An aficionado of spreadsheets, a passionate believer in the power of community, and a strong proponent of great user-centered design, Jamileh is well-versed in leading teams and managing the many moving parts and personalities of any project.
Quick witted and innately curious, she also has quite the green thumb, keeping all the Workbench studio plants happily watered and thriving with growth.
On choosing a career in Architecture
I am passionate about the built environment: both the aesthetic considerations and the complex process of turning an idea into a drawing, into a habitable space. Our surroundings truly affect each of us on a daily basis. If I am able to make someone feel good because something I designed or built was thoughtful, detailed, and fit their needs, then I did my job.
Why I love Santa Cruz
The air smells so clean, the ocean and trees are magical and I can create a life for myself and my family that feels relaxed yet still has access to all of the amazing offerings of the greater Bay Area.
Outside of Workbench
Outside of work, you’ll find me chasing kids around the backyard, heading to our neighborhood beach for the day, or cooking something yummy. If I’m super lucky, you’ll find me at a yoga class or enjoying a good book.
